In America we value ingenuity, work ethics, commitment, focus, perseverance, and morality. Unfortunately, a majority of the politicians who govern this country do not value the same things we do. This disharmony results in laws that are contrary to the principles we value. Politicians and the mainstream news then tell us the negative effects produced are a result of too little government involvement or control. It has become common place for the government to tell us they’ll fix a problem they created by making more laws that create new problems. This cycle is a critical reason for “We the People” to not be swayed by this ideology we hear from the mainstream media, who have turned to propaganda, bullying, and agitating. Unifying together is critical for the protection of our freedoms. We must not be swayed away from the core values of our country. Everyone is free to think, believe, and say as they feel. Respecting others doesn’t mean you agree, but the level of respect shown is what helps us work through our differences and produce results thought impossible. The divisiveness being spread in our country can only feed itself with the distance that we are willing to embrace it. If we reject the lie and work together, we can preserve our country and our future.
The Declaration of Independence tells us, “…that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” The Preamble to the Constitution tells us, “We the People of the United States … do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America. The U.S. Bill of Rights protects our rights and liberties as individuals and as states under the government of these United States. Among the rights protected is our right to worship as we choose, to speak as we believe, to peaceably assemble, and to seek justice for wrongs done. Our right to own and bear arms and if the need arises, to form a militia. Our right to own personal property, to personal protection, to a jury of our peers, to double jeopardy, to refuse to testify against oneself, and to a speedy and public trial. The Bill of Rights also protects us from excessive bail or cruel and unusual means of punishment and Amendment X says, “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.” Meaning, the states, which are closer to the people than the federal government, were given the right to establish laws as necessary. These are the freedoms and values “We the People” must remain unified on. Without these core tenets our country’s heritage and liberty will be lost!
